This feature allows you to create multiple text variables in a variable set with R code. This enables you to make multiple R variables at once by writing a single piece of R code (as opposed to writing separate code to generate each variable in the set. The R Code that you write should return a matrix, or data frame.

Variable sets that are created using R cannot change the number of columns of data that they produce. It is best to plan ahead and consider how many variables you wish to create before running this option. It may be helpful to prototype your code in a Calculation before creating your variables, as this will give you immediate feedback about the size of the data that your code has created, as well as the values that it contains.

Usage

  1. Hover your mouse under Data Sets in the position you wish the new variables to be added.
  2. Click the + icon which appears.
  3. Select Custom Code > Multiple R Variables > Numeric.
  4. Enter the number of variables you wish to create, and click OK.
  5. Use Properties > R Code on the right side of the screen to enter the code you wish to use.
