How to display variables in lists Choose how Q displays variables in the filter and weight drop-downs, the Binary Constructor list, etc.
How to display questions in lists Choose how Q displays questions in the blue and brown drop-downs.
View PDFs after exporting Choose whether to view PDFs in an application such as Adobe Acrobat.
View Excel workbook after exporting to Excel (fast export option) Choose whether to automatically open Excel workbooks after they are exported using Export to Excel (fast).
Shrink tables to fit in one slide (when exporting to PowerPoint) or in page margins (when exporting to Word) Tables exported as images to PowerPoint or Work will be shrunk such that the entire table fits within the maximum size settings on a single slide/page. If unchecked, tables may be wrapped across two or more pages to fit within the maximum size per page.
Export Chart Defaults
The default chart types are based on the types of questions chosen in the blue and brown drop-downs. (R tables are exported to charts as if they were Pick One by Pick One tables.) They can be set using the grid of drop-down menus on the Export Chart Defaults tab. These can be over-ridden using the Chart drop-down menu on the Export tab in Table Options (see Export to Office).
The grid shown in this tab allows you to change the default chart type used to export tables to Microsoft Office. The default depends on the combination of question types selected for the table in the blue and brown drop-downs. If you are exporting via Microsoft Graph or Office 2007 then you can select templates in these positions instead.
There are three template systems: Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Excel (Office 2003 and earlier) and Microsoft Office 2007 (and later).
Microsoft Graph Templates
Enter the names of any Microsoft Graph templates you have saved on this computer. Any templates entered can be selected by blue/brown combination on this screen, or when exporting a table.
Microsoft Graph templates are made available by setting the template system to Microsoft Graph and then entering the names of the templates into the templates panel. To apply a Microsoft Graph template, select the table in the report that is to be exported as a chart with the same format as the template. Click the desired Export to Office button, select To PowerPoint as Microsoft Graph or To Word as Microsoft Graph from the Format menu, and select the name of the template you want to apply to the chart from the Chart menu. Click OK.
Microsoft Excel Templates (Office 2003 and Earlier)
Select an Excel file that contains samples of the different chart types you use. Q will use one of the charts from this file as the basis for exported charts, chosen by matching the chart type selected to the chart types in the file. If Q does not find an exact type match, it will use the first chart of a similar type. The file name must include the full path name of the file. The similar types are grouped as follows:
- Column, Bar, Cylinder, Cone, Pyramid
- Line
- Pie, Doughnut
- X Y Scatter
- Bubble
- Area
- Radar
- Surface
- Stock Quotes
Microsoft Office Templates (Office 2007 and Later)
Select the directory that contains your Office Chart Templates. Any templates found can be selected by blue/brown combination on this screen, or when exporting a table. Usually the directory will be automatically identified by Q; if not, contact your IT department for assistance.
Advanced
This section should only be used when directed to by Q support.
Disable hardware graphics acceleration Q support may direct you to check this if you have issues where Q will crash upon starting, or will crash when displaying interactive R Outputs (widgets). When checked, and after re-opening Q, this disables hardware acceleration in the embedded Chrome web browser which is used to power some Q features such as R Outputs. When checked, some R Outputs may show the message "WebGL is not supported by your browser". This check box should only be used temporarily to troubleshoot problems.
Restore previously closed suggestions Q support may direct you to check this if you are experiencing issues with the list of suggestions shown in the top-left of the Outputs tab. When clicked, and after re-opening Q, your history of completed suggestions is reset and you will see suggestions re-appear that you have previously completed or closed.
