Where x¯1 and x¯2 are the two means, and sx¯1x¯2 is an estimate of the Standard Error of the difference between the means:

t=x¯1x¯2sx¯1x¯2

where

p2Pr(tn1|t|),
n is the sample size,
sx¯1x¯2 is computed as the Standard Error of d,
the value for the ith observation is computed as di=xi1xi2 where x1,x2 are the observed values on the two variables.
