The license on this computer has stopped working because the computer has changed substantially

Whenever you use Q, the program checks that the computer on which it is being used is the same as the computer on which it was previously used. If Q detects a Q License Hardware Change it will advise you that The license on this computer has stopped working because the computer has changed substantially and the license will stop working.

There are two situations when this message will appear:

  1. If you have moved the license from computer to another in an unauthorized way (see How to Move Q to a Different Computer).
  2. If you have made substantial changes to your computer (e.g., modifying its hardware), in such a way that it looks like a new computer to Q (i.e., a false positive).

In either case, please contact support for assistance, providing as much detail as possible so that we can work out the likely cause and find an appropriate solution.
