The Variable Labels are Blank or Shorter than Expected

From Q
Jump to navigation Jump to search

When importing data Q automatically identifies multiple response questions. When it does this, redundant text is automatically deleted from the labels in both the Variables and Questions tab and the Outputs Tab. For example, if you have two variables with the labels Please rate your overall satisfaction with – instore banking and Please rate your overall satisfaction with – checkout queues, Q deletes the redundant text (i.e., Please rate your overall satisfaction with –"). Sometimes this can be confusing. For example, if a question consisted of two variables, labeled Dog and Dinosaur, Q would show Og and Inosaur (i.e., the D is assumed redundant and deleted), or, if the text is identical for each variable the Variable Label will become blank.

If Q makes a wrong guess you can either manually edit the labels or use Revert to Source Label to show the original labels.
